LAUAN404 - Study Task 6 - Analogue Character Modelling and Realisation

In the past week I have been working on a 3D Plasticine model of my character. The development of this project can be seen below.

I initially found this task to be incredibly frustrating and hard to do, however with enough dedication and time I managed to finally complete the model that I will use to create my walk cycle. While the model is not 100% true to her design, I feel that it is close enough to resemble the character I created.

What went well

  • Decent use of modelling techniques and anatomy.
  • Creation of a well recognisable model of my character.
  • Accurate colours and appearence.
Improvements needed

  • Time management and more time needed to create the model.
  • Early modelling (E.G The wiring, more accurate foam proportions, less bandaging etc)

LAUAN404 - Study Task 7 - Pitch Bible Draft

In the past few days I have been working on researching on pitch bibles and creating a first draft of my own, which appears below.

Important critique:

  • Great improvement needed in presenting my work via speech.
  • Improve cover art.
  • Improve structure of the pitch.
  • More emphasis on images of backgrounds and characters.

LAUAN404 - Study Task 4

In the past week I have been working on character profiles and storyboards for my future animation.

Character Profile Sheets

Protagonist

Antagonist

Storyboards

Things I did well:

  • Well thought out ideas for different scenes for storyboards.
  • Well developed character backgrounds.
  • Good examples of how the characters interact with the background.
Things to improve:

  • Add timing to the storyboards
  • More detail in the storyboard

LAUAN402 - Studio Brief 2 - Presentation Blog

In the past weeks I have been researching the game Okami to prepare a presentation on the it. I have been playing the game first hand on the Nintendo Switch. I had never seen anything about the game until recently, and in my research I have found that I greatly enjoy playing it. I have put several hours into the game and I'm hoping that I can share enough information with my peers to get those who don't know of the game invested in at least researching on it.

Images used in my research

Final Presentation

What went well:

  • Well organised and visually appealing presentation
  • Clear points made about the game itself.
  • Well-rounded conclusion on the points made in the presentation itself.
  • Good use of images to illustrate points made in the presentation.

What to improve on:

  • Presenting work in front of others.
  • Making more notes on what to talk about to give a more detailed analysis.
  • Organisation.

LAUAN404 Study Task 3

In the past week I have finalised my ideas for my protagonist and antagonist, as well as completed an artwork with both characters and side characters in the backgrounds. I have also created another t-pose sheet of my protagonist, except I've designed her without her armour.

In this study task I experimented with different colours and character designs to create my protagonist, antagonist and a background in order to develop my process and production for my final project.

In addition to this I also posted my developments of these characters on a student forum for others to critique, and I also critiqued others.

Because of this peer critique, I feel that others and especially myself have improved our character designs greatly over the last few weeks.

What went well:

  • Constantly improving character designs and drawing skills.
  • Very well contrasted protagonist and antagonist.
  • Clear silhouette and personality of character displayed through dynamic poses and expressions.

What I can improve on:

  • Improvement on backgrounds and dynamic poses with both characters.
  • Better proportions for protagonist.
  • Consistency of character design.
