LAUAN402 - Study Task 10 - Showreel Time

For this task we were instructed to create a showreel that went with our Evaluate Presentation. I decided to pick out my best animations and include them in my showreel to show my peers the best animations I've done during this year.

I enjoyed making this showreel as it made it clear to me what I need to improve on and where I started from, as well as what I'm doing well currently.

I have also uploaded the showreel to Youtube under the account of Salsaberry.

What went well

  • A good representation of my animations so far.
  • Well edited clips from my previous animations.
  • Good pace and non-distracting music accompaniment.

What to Improve on

  • More animations for my showreel to create more diverse visuals.
  • Improvement on my animations as a whole.
  • Make my style more consistent to make the showreel more representative of my art.

LAUAN404 - Final Animation Development

Over the weeks I have been developing my study task 10 / final animation for this module. I have done a few scenes in colour that appear below:

I feel that I have learnt some new techniques when it comes to animation, such as wind and hair flapping in the wind, as well as smear frames. I have also improved my squash and stretch and timing.

However, I do feel that I could definitely improve with my line art and possible facial expressions.

LAUAN404 - Animation First Scene

I have worked on the first scene of my animation in order to give some variety in a showreel. The scene itself isn't finished, however I believe it's a good start for my animation, especially with the drips and the line art.

Things I did well:

  • Good timing on slime drips and blink.
  • Consistency of style.

Things to improve on:

  • Line work.
  • Background.

LAUAN402 - Studio Brief 3 - Evaluate Presentation

We were tasked with creating a presentation, as well as a showreel that shows off all our work so far.

For the presentation I created various different small artworks to illustrate my points and show off some character.

I think that making these artworks have really helped me expand my views to other styles and how other's draw and animate, which I feel is very helpful for the end of my first year.

What Went Well?

  • Good, articulated and well-explained points.
  • Quirky artistic additions to the presentation.
  • Good reflective analysis of my year and of myself.
What to improve upon.

  • Presenting my work in front of my peers.
  • Structuring my presentation better.
  • Spending more time on specific slides to explain my points in further depth.
